On the last Friday of August five years ago the topics on this show included the proposed Federal City project, new downtown construction, crime and upcoming elections. Not enough was known yet to talk about the hurricane in the gulf which only that afternoon had taken a worrisome turn.
Five years later crime, election and new projects are still part of the discussion but all of it is with the backdrop of what that hurricane brought.
Joining us to discuss the disaster, the recovery and the present are tonight’s Informed Sources:

-- Errol Laborde, Producer of Informed Sources.
-- Jed Horne, former Metro Editor for the Times-Picayune and author of the book Breach of Faith: Hurricane Katrina and the Near Death of a Great American City
-- Mike Perlstein, Managing Editor of 4 Investigates at WWL TV, Ch. 4
-- Sabrina Wilson, reporter, WVUE TV. Ch. 8
And our host Larry Lorenz.

Five years ago our area was a different place about to undergo such a jarring change that contemporary history would commonly be dated from that time. We begin tonight looking at the Katrina anniversary in terms of what life was like before that event.
There have been other disasters since, most notably the oil drilling accident in the gulf. We’ll discuss the latest as well as cut backs at the Public Belt railroad, next week’s election and an economic stimulus for an uptown neighborhood. Our Future Watch segments looks at plans for the Michoud facility.
On board for us are tonight’s Informed Sources:
-- Errol Laborde, producer, Informed Sources.
-- Kevin McGill, reporter, Associated Press.
-- Rob Masson, morning news anchor and reporter for WVUE tv, Ch. 8.
-- Dawn Ostrom, our Future Watch reporter.

And our host Larry Lorenz.
